Risk Disclosure
Read this before you risk a rupee on any strategy you build or export with algoshastra.
1. Options and futures trading involves substantial risk
Trading derivatives can result in losses that exceed the capital you commit to a trade — particularly with short options, where the maximum loss can be many multiples of the premium received. You can lose more than you intend to lose.
2. Past performance does not predict future returns
Every backtest result on this platform is computed from historical data. Market regimes change. A strategy that performed in 2023-2025 may stop working in 2026 — sometimes dramatically, sometimes silently. The verdicts are relative-ranking signals, not guarantees.
3. We are not a SEBI-registered investment adviser
Nothing on this platform constitutes investment advice. We generate code from your descriptions, test it against historical data, and let you export it. We do not tell you what to trade, when to trade, or how much to risk. Those are your decisions.
4. You are responsible for the trades on your broker
When you export a strategy and run it on your own Dhan or Groww account, every order originates from your broker credentials. We never hold your money. We never execute trades for you. If your strategy malfunctions, places unintended orders, or loses money, the responsibility for monitoring and intervening is yours.
5. Backtests do not include every cost
We include brokerage, STT, exchange fees, GST, and a conservative slippage model. We do not yet simulate order-book queue position, intraday margin escalation, or network latency. Your real-world fills will typically be slightly worse than the backtest shows.
6. Capital you cannot afford to lose
Do not trade options or futures with capital that you cannot afford to lose entirely. The Indian retail-derivative market loses money on aggregate — SEBI's own studies show ~89% of active F&O traders lose money in any given year.
7. Platform caveat
In the current release the platform may have bugs, outages, and unexpected behavior. Use it for research and strategy verification. If you choose to export code and trade real money on your own broker, you do so at your own risk and with the understanding that the software is not yet production-grade.
